WebNov 29, 2013 · The Dremel is too light IMO and is subject to quite a bit of bearing runout. These translate into less than acceptable results. A laminate style router in a more substantial circle jig works much better. I use a Bosch Colt in a Bishop Cochran jig, but there are other quality alternatives. WebMay 10, 2011 · I played with a microfence a few years ago at a woodworking show. They are well engineered precision tools and they will do small circles with an add on kit that allows the index pin to go underneath the base. It does raise the router up about a 1/2" so your bit must be long enough to compensate for it.

I put the saw into it and opened it up to make it easier to see what I'm doing, I also bought the long neck version of the Proxxon for the same reason. Those bases accept standard Porter Cable style template guides, like the Whiteside inlay kits. I'm trying to help a friend find a Dremel base that accepts standard template guides.
